Mongolia’s Khongoryn Els

Gobi Desert’s Khongoryn Els is part of Mongolia’s desert zones which some zones have enough grass for livestock to graze, however, Khongoryn Els is located in the extreme southern zone of the Gobi desert and that is defined by its huge range of towering sand dunes.

If you are planning to travel to the Gobi Desert to visit Khongoryn Els sand dunes – we highly recommend doing this as part of a larger route and/or a Live Like a Local Nomad Experience… Every country has it’s unique experiences – Mongolia is more about lifestyle immersions or overland expeditions within outstanding geographies than southeastern Asia and city-like entertainment parks, etc.
