Ulaanbaatar City offers an incredible variety of foods! YES indeed it does! Most think of Mongolia as being mainly meat, cabbage, carrots, potatoes, etc., which throughout the rural areas of Mongolia those types of ‘hearty meals’ are indeed staple… HOWEVER when in Ulaanbaatar and even in larger provincial cities in Mongolia – there is a broad range of delights to experiences!
For the last couple of decades, Mongols have travel worldwide in search of chefs to come to Mongolia to start up culinary businesses as well as Mongols traveling abroad (around the world) to return to Ulaanbaatar City to start up their own cafes, restaurants, etc. The result is that today you can fine absolutely exquisite dining experiences that would easily internationally cost $50 to $150 dollars per plate between $20 to $50 dollars across Ulaanbaatar as well as medium level culinary experiences that would internationally cost $20 to $50 dollars ranging $10 to $30 dollars… and as for quite ‘grab and go’ budget bites – Ulaanbaatar City has their own version of Seven Elevens called “CU” Shops where you can pick up kimbabs, sandwiches, hot and cold drinks, etc., between $2 to $5 dollars!
Regardless of our Budget, YOU will not starve in Ulaanbaatar City! To ensure that you strategize your Ulaanbaatar City culinary experiences we will regularly update this page of our website with new and recommended experiences.
