Ulaanbaatar City Tour’s Detailed Itinerary
Sain bain u! Welcome to Ulaanbaatar. We’ll pick you up from your hotel at at 10am to which we’ll start our journey to the “Universal Progress” independent living center; in Mongolia, there are 104,700 persons with disabilities and 32,516 children with disabilities nationwide. This NGO was established to offer empowerment, development and advocacy activities to advance the lives of people with disabilities. During your visitation, you will learn about what challenges disabled people are faced in society and what successful achievements the Universal Progress NGO have implemented. Afterwards, we’ll continue the journey to “Merciful World” day care center for disabled children. Today in Ulaanbaatar, finding a flexible job for mothers who have disabled children is almost impossible, hence, a group of mothers united to established a daycare center for their disabled children. These mothers didn’t stop there – they pursued to create a small-scale factory, next door to the daycare, that custom designs and manufactures stuffed toys for children. During this visitation, you will receive a stuffed horse or camel as a souvenir.
Next we’ll make our way to the “No Limits Coffee Shop” (for lunch) that is run by adults with Down-syndrome. All employees have a sense of pride and purpose while serving you yummy food with freshly brewed coffee or tea.
After lunch, you will head to the child protection/development center called “Magic Land” that was established by Lantuun Dohio NGO. The purpose of Magic Land is to create a SAFE HAVEN for children in need of protection from abuse, neglect and exploitation. As Magic Mongolia was created to provide protective services to children living in extreme poverty in Mongolia, the Lantuun Dohio Mongolia Team has settled on the Bayankhoshuu Region of Ulaanbaatar; an overpopulated/over-polluted area with nearly not enough resources like public schools and kindergartens that serve the needs of all the district’s citizens. Owing to these location specific challenges – it was intentionally chosen in order to serve the most amount of people who need help. On today’s supervised visitation, you will visit the child development center’s classes and library – funds each traveler’s Experience has been allocated towards paying for four children’s daily food cost; if 100 travelers visit then 1,200 meals will be paid for.
By the end of the Experience – you will have definitively contributed towards sustained Empowerment/Awareness efforts within Mongolia… and that always feels good!
