Mongolia Nomad Homestay in Terelj National Park
Learn to Live Like a Local Nomad in Mongolia
Looking for an authentic way to experience nomadic life in Mongolia? Our Mongolia Nomad Homestay in Terelj National Park offers a rare opportunity to live side-by-side with local nomadic families, experiencing daily life exactly as it has been lived on the steppe for generations. This is not a staged performance or tourist show—this is real life, real people, and real cultural exchange in one of Mongolia’s most beautiful and accessible national parks.
Through GER to GER’s Nomadic Lifestyle Homestay Program, you are welcomed into a nomadic household where you can participate in everyday activities at your own comfort level. Depending on your interests, you may help herd and care for animals such as horses, cows, sheep, and goats; learn traditional Mongolian cooking by assisting the family hostess; or observe how nomads manage daily routines like collecting water, preparing fuel, or traveling by ox cart across the landscape.
This experience is intentionally flexible and deeply personal. There is no pressure to perform or over-commit. You are free to assist, observe, rest, or simply enjoy the peace of the steppe. Whether you want to actively engage in nomadic tasks, spend quiet days relaxing in nature, or even “do nothing” for a full week—eating, sleeping, reflecting, and recharging—this homestay is entirely at your own pace. The goal is simple: to live like a local nomad in Mongolia, in a way that feels natural, respectful, and meaningful to you.
